What is art (round 2)
Art is a fascinating topic, since it doesn't have any boundaries or limitations within its creations. Anything in the world can be perceived a work of art. But most of all I think art needs to be appreciated and honored within society, since it is one of the most important tools humans can use to express creativity and passion. Art has been created though history starting as early as the first humans to roam the earth. This primitive beginning to the innovative passion of art is because of its accessibility and acceptance to all forms of creations. As I said in my previous essay I think art is anything made to fulfill your creative needs and doesn't need any boundaries or limitations. It can range in styles like the modernist pieces of the 1920’s or a stone megalith, intended to last thought the centuries. An artist doesn't need one specific reason to produced an art piece but it should be made to show creativity, passion, interest, message or documentation of something the creator wants to convey to others. While re-reading my past essay I would have to say that I agree with practically everything I mentioned. I feel like there was a lot of aspects to art that I was missed before, but after my growth for the appreciation of art I feel like I can really understand what art means.
One factor I agree with from my last essay is that art doesn't need to be appealing to the beholders eye in order to be appreciated. The idea that art needs to be beautiful to me is completely wrong. Art is a form of expression, and peoples thoughts or ideas might not always be beautiful. Art is suppose to evoke many different emotions and not just beauty. It is suppose to allow people to send a message, tell a story, or to unmask their hidden feelings. When creating works, artist shouldn't be worried about how good it will look or if it can out compete others. Artwork is needs to be created for the enjoyment of its development and for the impact it will leave on the viewer. In my opinion art shapes society and shows the true emotions and opinions coming out of that time period. People in history has evolved art within their own cultures, specializing it, and making their own mark in the art world. Its fascinating to see all the different types of styles and ideas that come out of specific countries expressed within their art. I really believe that art is the backbone of civilization and without that creative outlet for people to express themselves, our world would be a very dull and boring place.
All art is important and should be praised. The mere idea of someone taking their own time to work on a piece, so important to them is a very special thing. One aspect to art I never thought of before taking this class is that I think viewers should be encourages to dig deeper and analyze works while viewing. Before AP Art History I enjoyed looking at art but I never really took the time to really appreciate it. The ideas within art very and expand constantly, giving viewers new ideas and thoughts. Everyone going to see any type of work should be offered background or clues as to the intentions of creating the work while viewing it so they can fully emerge themselves in the piece to get the full picture behind it. Sometimes its not even the work of art that is important but the journey, it took to create, that really gives it its meaning. Art is a beautiful and amazing thing within our wold and I only hope it will continue to flourish.
