Bella St. Ivany and Gabi Card (Mesopotamia)
Description: Using “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor as a template, “Mesopotamia” explores a time based in the awareness of gods as power that can cause good or bad. Mesopotamia was nestled in between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers around the Fertile Crescent which as lent itself to many droughts and floods that were perceived as gods’ anger or pleasure. To ensure gods were in their favor, people had votives who prayed for them as they worked the fields. During this time, there were people who took control like Hammurabi with his code of law and Naram-Sin in his propaganda to give him power of his subjects. Keeping with this theme of displays of power, composite creatures and lapis lazuli were used to ward off any attackers. Mesopotamia had to fight hard, staying in the eye of tiger to achieve permanence as a culture. Mesopotamia sung by Tucker St. Ivany written by Gabi Card and Bella St. Ivany originally performed by Survivor LYRICS |
Sammy Mattis (Byzantine)
This song is about Byzantine art. I did the lyrics to the rythem of anaconda by niki minaj because it's intertaining and would be easier for the students to sing along to. I talked about most the art works we went over in class and the important context information presented in the over view. Written and Performed by Sammy Mattis LYRICS |
