People in general have different perceptions of art, so consequently, there is no precise definition of the word. Art is expressed in a way without hesitation. It exemplifies oneś beliefs, values, behaviors, and symbols they accept. Art deposits knowledge and passes it down from generation to generation. These things that art exudes give reason to believe that art is a culture. Art affects and changes people that witness it. Art exhibits and provokes religion. Art expresses oneś values to others. Art has symbols. It shows different forms of behavior and mood. It is spontaneous. Art is passed along generations. These concepts all come together to create art.
However studying Art History for a year, I have come to the realization that there is more to art than these aspects. Art is about imagination. You can think whatever you want and art can express that. Art can be anything you want it to be. Art has no limits. Make whatever you want, do whatever you want to do. If you consider it art, then it is art. Art has no rules. Let anything be art. After doing our Tiny Art project--which had no rules, except for to create art on a piece of paper--I noticed that art expresses oneś self. Everyone had something different to share, and nobodyś paper is the same. For example, I drew a butterfly that degrades like the Marilyn Diptych, but my friend merely cut up a piece of paper. Although these two things are completely different, we both still made a piece of art.
Art is also used for a purpose. People--like Augustus--used art to make other people think highly of them. Artś purpose was to assist the parton, for whatever reason it may be. Some people used art to get into heaven, while other people used art to make others do things for them.
Art can comes together to make a culture, but it entails so much more than that. It has no rules, no limits. It is a form of expression. It has a purpose. Art is something to be appreciated, whether it is liked or not, because each generation can learn from the pastś through their art. Their values, traditions, rituals, actions, and conflicts can all be seen. Everyone has a different perception of art, and we can not judge based on this opinion. This opinion is solely based on the individual and their values. These values can be incorporated into someoneś perception of art. Art is such a broad topic that there can be so many different meanings to it. Although my perception of art has expanded throughout the year, I still believe that culture is a good word to encompass all of art.
